September 30, 2019

Today students were encouraged to wear an orange shirt in support of Orange Shirt Day.  As a class, room 5 discussed the history behind this day and why it is important.  We each traced our hand and made a pledge that will help others.  Ask your child what they pledged to do.

Important reminders:

  • Our field study to Fish Creek Park is tomorrow (Oct. 1st).  Permission forms were due today.  If your child has not returned their form please send it with them tomorrow morning.
  • We will eat our lunch at Fish Creek Park.  Please pack a lunch that will be easy to eat in a picnic area outside.
  • The weather has not been ideal.  Please send your child in snow pants, winter coat, boots and waterproof gloves/mittens to wear when we are outside tomorrow.

Sept. 27, 2019

This week our AM group continued to look at landscapes and think about questions regarding the land.  The questions we each tried to think about were:

  • What do you notice?
  • What resources are on the land?
  • How could we use them?
  • Could we live here?  Why or why not?

Today was the Terry Fox run at Maple Ridge School.  Each of us set a personal goal to run enough laps to spell TERRY, FOX or TERRY FOX.  Ask me what my goal was and how I did with my goal 🏃🎯

Reminders:

Our trip to Hull's Wood (Fish Creek Park) is on Tuesday, Oct. 1st.  All forms are due Monday.

Orange Shirt day is Monday Students and staff are encouraged to wear an orange shirt to create awareness of the concept of Every Child Matters.  Please visit http://www.orangeshirtday.org/ for more information
