March 11, 2020

Students have been investigating new and interesting ways to begin stories.  Today we practiced writing a beginning using an action and again using dialogue.  Ask your child what we are no longer using in our story writing 🚫

Yesterday students visited the Central Library and toured the 4th floor to learn more about Alberta's story.  We were also given time to explore in small groups.  We then moved outside to examine evidence of waste in our world and compare downtown to Fish Creek park.  Some things we learned yesterday:

  • There was garbage in the ponds (MF)
  • We learned about how the Central Library has books from over 200 years ago (GPC)
  • It was really cool how they had the old telephone books in there (KK)
  • We all saw ducks and geese near the river, which was evidence of natural activity downtown (KB)
  • We got to learn about Calgary's story (MH)
